hoorah, we 'validate'. it's always nice when that happens. css is such fun to use, even if it renders in every browser *totally* differently.

so, play nice. follow these rules.

i've tried my hardest to make it cross-browser friendly, but if it implodes on yours, please e-mail me. i <3 the net.

i'm quite a poor student as it happens, so if you perhaps want to offer me clothes or some kind of web developing gig, drop me a line.

You want a fucking Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts review?

I just made a vehicle that's basically a big blue block of a tank, that shoots eggs out of two mounted guns on the front. I attatched balloons to the top and sides of the vehicle and stuck some propellors on the back, so that I can fly it around like a zeppellin. And then when I press a button, the shell of the vehicle breaks into two side parts which drop off as the inside of the vehicle drops out, essetially transforming it into a really fast car. Once I find some springs, I'm going to create another version where the shell of the vehicle is just one piece on the top and attatch the springs to the top of the inner car, so that i can drive along, release the shell and then shoot it off behind me as I speed away like some kind of raggedy ass Spyhunter shit. I am having too much fun to actually progress in the fucking game.

There's your fucking Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts review.... read more

I love the internet. And nothing quite reminds me of this than when some classic line appears on a favourite site of mine. Today? It's the turn of UK:Resistance, and an old article I just looked up again. In reference to the following picture:

de Blob

As an ex-child, I think it’s fair to say that everyone loves paint. I mean, not everyone can paint (see the majority of primary school classrooms across the land), but there was nothing quite as satisfying as dipping your fingers in a big bright pot of ‘Yellow’ and smearing it across a blank canvas... or page ripped from ‘The Sun’, if you went to my kind of primary school.

de Blob, Australian developer Bluetongue’s third Wii title, appeals to this innate love of all things messy. The city of Chroma has been sucked dry of colour by the evil INKT Corporation. You, Blob, and your gang of revolutionaries must overthrow the evil empire and bring rainbow shades back to the world. How? Paint, of course!

The city itself, divided into 10 or so regions, lays waiting in monochrome. The buildings, landmarks, trees and even the Raydians (the people of Chroma) have been washed clean of any tone or colour. As Blob, the sole remaining denizen with the ability to spread paint, you must re... read more

I love Facebook.

OK.. that's a lie. I tolerate Facebook. A little bit of me likes 'updating my status' so I can let everyone know on a daily basis just exactly what is pissing me off. Another bit of me likes looking at pictures of other people's friends - to remind myself of what fun means outside of my chariot of hamshankery. The rest of the time, I just feel like a fanny for using it.

However, up until a few months ago, Facebook had never managed to insult me. For all its SQL cubes, fancy pants design and lovely lovely AJAX, it still hadn't managed to find a way to specifically offend me. That is, until target advertising found it's way onto my profile!

I'm all for targeted advertising. I mean, if I claim to like a certain band, then it makes sense for me to get adverts about that band, or perhaps bands on the same label. Relatively inoffensive, simple things.

What I'm not particularly enamoured with is when Facebook somewhat bruntly asks: ... read more

From a recent work newsletter I received, regarding the Beijing Olympic torch-bearers in China...

Because Haikou, Hainan Province, was the first relay location in China, the busload of uniformed runners attracted quite a bit of attention. “When we were having lunch, all of a sudden people saw us and said, ‘Can I touch your torch?’ I said, ‘Of course you can touch it. In fact, you can hold it.’

I'd like to say this resulted in 15 arrests and justice for children, but if Vietnam taught us anything, it's that fiddlers always win. ... read more

My dearest compatriots, cheerleaders and lichen.
Our grief may yet have been premature. Though President GW Bush may well be leaving office this coming year, he may be voted back in!

Surely, we can rejoice once more. However, we cannot trust the Americans to vote for the correct President, despite this popular movement of theirs. British people! We too can have a leader the world fears. In the coming election, you must write-in Bush for Prime Minister.

Perhaps... just perhaps we can see Bush elected across the world; the first steps to bringing this once-glorious world closer to the Heavenly Kingdom.

PUT ON THE RED LIGHT!

Like… a fat kid… coming in… last… at sports day… Harmonix… and EA… finally.. get Rock Band… to Europe.

Unlike said fat kid, Rock Band doesn’t get a consolation medal. You know, the crappy blue ribbon that is almost more degrading than nothing at all. No, it get’s the ‘FREAKING AWESOME MEDAL’.

…or does it?

I am pained. Never before had I had to rejig my thoughts quite like I have with this review. This is because Rock Band is a bittersweet experience, for a number of reasons. The set up and execution is near enough flawless - a fantastic range of kit with some cracking songs guaranteed to keep you going until you get yourself a bit of DLC.

Less flawless… in fact, unavoidably flawed, is the price.

But let’s get to that later, shall we? I’m certain you learned gamers know the premise of Rock Band, but in case you don’t, here’s a shrewd, obscure simile – it’s like the less demanding offspring of Guitar Hero 3 on acidmating with a drunk Amplitude. Too inte ...read more

Planet Terror: Fuck Yes. click to open preview
hey shut up

Planet Terror really blew me away. It just has everything a movie should have; guns, zombies, amputation, Fergie off the Black Eyed Peas getting mauled by aforementioned zombies. The gun-leg bits were amazing too. Always helps to have Bruce Willis and some cast members from Lost in there as well. JT (played by that guy who does the helicopter pilot in season 4) was fantastic. It’s just amazing. Planet Terror is the very definition of the kind of film that you would go out to see with your friends. I was lucky; we had the opportunity in college to simulate the experience on the wall with a projector, and since there was a decent amount of us watching, there was good banter; but people just buying the DVD and watching at home are totally missing out on this part of the experience. Whoever is responsible for Planet Terror not being shown in cinemas in the UK is a fucking criminal. Straight to DVD is a fate it didn’t deserve.

Sure, I can understand why Grindhouse bombed in America. Ju ...read more

Fan-sey: Rock Band Countdown! click to open preview
Oh I'm getting fair excited now like.

A heads up for the ignorant: I've gone to the effort of chucking in a Rock Band release date counter! Credit where credit's due for the krazy kountdown kode (Javascript Kit, incidentally), but now we can go ahead and watch the days disappear! I'll be doing a considerable number of updates in the week(s) up to launch, stealing videos from YouTube, and maybe something EVEN MORE SPECIAL. Who knows? Who knows?. For the moment, let's just have a little recap about what we're getting come May 23rd..

The poorly named 'Band in a Box'. Not exactly The Beatles, is it?

Just look at that picture. Just look at it. We've got a set of drums - 4 pads and a bass pedal. A set of drumsticks. Perhaps even some instructions. Oh we'll most probably have to buy sound dampeners and a replacement set of sticks and all that stuff but THAT'S NOT IMPORTANT. It's a drumset... for a video g ...read more
