hoorah, we 'validate'. it's always nice when that happens. css is such fun to use, even if it renders in every browser *totally* differently.

so, play nice. follow these rules.

i've tried my hardest to make it cross-browser friendly, but if it implodes on yours, please e-mail me. i <3 the net.

i'm quite a poor student as it happens, so if you perhaps want to offer me clothes or some kind of web developing gig, drop me a line.

Planet Terror

released on 2008
| morerunning time total time length
Planet Terror really blew me away. It just has everything a movie should have; guns, zombies, amputation, Fergie off the Black Eyed Peas getting mauled by aforementioned zombies. The gun-leg bits were amazing too. Always helps to have Bruce Willis and some cast members from Lost in there as well. JT (played by that guy who does the helicopter pilot in season 4) was fantastic. It’s just amazing. Planet Terror is the very definition of the kind of film that you would go out to see with your friends. I was lucky; we had the opportunity in college to simulate the experience on the wall with a projector, and since there was a decent amount of us watching, there was good banter; but people just buying the DVD and watching at home are totally missing out on this part of the experience. Whoever is responsible for Planet Terror not being shown in cinemas in the UK is a fucking criminal. Straight to DVD is a fate it didn’t deserve.

Sure, I can understand why Grindhouse bombed in America. Just because Death Proof and Planet Terror were intended as a double feature, it doesn’t mean that Tarantino and Rodriguez were stingy on the length. Grindhouse, as it was intended, is not physically manageable for most people. It takes a good chunk of hours out of your day to watch both movies. And to be honest, if I had seen both of them back to back, I would have been killed or at least crippled by the dangerous overexposure to sheer awesome.

So you’ll understand that the project was not tailored to your average movie-goer and his/her needs, during life. What remains a mystery to me is that Death Proof got a release over here and Planet Terror didn’t. Both of them were fantastic fun but I think that Planet Terror was the better movie. The only vaguely logical explanation I can think of is that Tarantino is of course the bigger name, and Death Proof’s ticket sales would reflect how many they’d sell for Planet Terror if it were released. If you’re going to see one then you’re going to see the other, right? So that can only mean that Death Proof didn’t do very well in cinemas over here, which really just confirms my suspicions that everyone is retarded. Stupid humanity. Oh well....
